Lots Open and Residents Move In As Our Community Progresses

Serenbe's natural beauty, environmental consciousness and unique character have attracted an imaginative, diverse group of homebuyers -- full-time artists, doctors, authors, government leaders, a fireman and technology professionals, just to name a few. For some this is their first mortgage and for others it is their fifth second home. Residents are coming from Los Angeles, San Diego, New York and all around Atlanta. Our dream of creating a vibrant community that is built upon the various talents and shared values of its residents is becoming a reality.

Wildflowers in bloom

With all of the estate lots, townhouses and most of the cottages in Phase I now sold, we will release homes and lots in Phase II of Selborne on June 1. We look forward to expanding our community and welcoming a new group of homebuyers who share our love of nature, the arts and other various interests. These homeowners will be able to enjoy riding horses, sharing a cup of coffee at the Blue-Eyed Daisy, or just strolling through the town square. Another favorite pastime will surely be enjoying the scenery at Serenbe. Charming at any time of year, it is especially lovely right now with the trees reclaimed during the construction process being planted along the roadside and stands of lady slippers blooming in our meadows.

Streetscape coming alive

As the rainy days of spring begin to give way to the heat of summer, we are excited to see the first residents begin to call Serenbe home. As early as mid-May, David and Mindy LaMarca and their two children will move into their distinctive cottage with its natural tree columns that anchor their roadside porch. Just down Selborne Lane, Sandra Storrar will unpack her boxes and move into one of the cottages along the inside of the omega-shaped road. Neighbors Fred and Darla Vetter and Roy and Faye Godwin will lead the next wave of residents soon after the LaMarcas and Sandra get settled.

Sandra's new cottage

It is fitting that Sandra Storrar be one of the first people to move into Serenbe, since she has looked forward to this moment for several years. A long-time friend of the Nygrens, Steve and Marie recruited her in 2001 to assist in forming the Chattahoochee Hill Country Alliance (CHCA). Sandra, who earned a PhD in public administration, previously spent 25 years at Georgia State University, ending her tenure as assistant vice president of student services. She then worked five years for PeopleSoft Consulting before lending her hand to the formation of CHCA. During the two years that she served as the organization's executive director, Sandra fell in love with the scenery and the people of the area and decided to call it home. "Buying a home at Serenbe brings all of my loves – the environment, community and arts – to my doorstep," Sandra explains. She selected a cottage because the design felt more resonant with the rural area and she is able to hear the stream that runs through the woods behind her new house. This home is also a change from her former large residence in Roswell, and reflects a desire to simplify her life and enjoy a more peaceful existence at Serenbe.

In addition to Serenbe’s tranquility, Sandra was drawn to Serenbe because it provides easy accessibility to Atlanta and numerous opportunities to be involved with the community. She is looking forward to getting to know her new neighbors while working with them on various projects, including the formation of the Serenbe Center for Arts and Culture. Sandra believes in the vision we have cast for Serenbe so much that she has become a sales agent for Coldwell Banker representing the community.
