"Green" Houses and a Blue-Eyed Daisy Pop Up at Serenbe
 |
| Construction is well underway, with all homes meeting EarthCraft House guidelines |
In just a few short months, the first residents will be calling Serenbe home. Each residence will be beautiful and personal in style; most importantly, they will be some of the most environmentally sound homes in the nation. With environmental conservation and sustainability as key principles of the community that we are creating, it is important to work with a builder that will construct each home according to those ideals. We have found the best with Hedgewood Properties.
Named 2003 Builder of the Year by Professional Builder magazine, Hedgewood is building Serenbe's homes in accordance with EarthCraft House guidelines, ensuring that they will be healthy for both our homeowners and the environment. EarthCraft House, one of the country's leading green-building programs, sets rigorous environmental standards for energy efficiency and resource protection. Building to these standards will ensure that residents of Serenbe will enjoy better indoor air quality, lower energy and water costs, in addition to a beautiful living space in a creative, welcoming community.

The founders of Serenbe have planned carefully to guarantee that our first residents have all the comforts of a true mixed-used community soon after they move in to their new homes. For this reason we are pleased to announce that Serenbe will be home to the Blue-Eyed Daisy, a coffee shop, bakery and café scheduled to open by summer 2005. Proprietors Angie and Johnny Mosier are creating a space that will offer wonderful food and provide a gathering place for friends, neighbors and visitors to feel at home.
Serenbe is fortunate to have Angie, whose cakes and pastries have been featured in Veranda , Town and Country and Elegant Bride magazines as well as books on entertaining. Husband and musician Johnny brings his own unique background to the Blue-Eyed Daisy, having honed his cooking skills working at Atlanta's premier cooking school, the Cook's Warehouse, where he was able to learn from the area's top chefs the artful communion that is created when one offers caring, well thought-out meals. His hope is that his own colorful fabric of delicious food and music (food for the soul) will bring folks together at Serenbe.

Metro Atlanta's top chefs gathered
at
Serenbe for the annual "Dinner
on
the Grounds" event. |
Food brought more than 300 people to the fourth annual " Day in the Country and Dinner on the Grounds", hosted by the Atlanta Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier International. Atlanta's top chefs provided the food, wonderful wines and local brews; additional highlights included a silent auction and live bluegrass music. The event raised money for the Les Dames d'Escoffier scholarship fund and the Georgia organic farm community, and allowed guests to enjoy a beautiful autumn day at Serenbe.
Tours of homes will begin as construction nears completion. In the meantime, we invite you to visit Serenbe to watch our progress. Call for an appointment and learn more about our community.
